Living Life to the Fullest

Ernest Hemingway once said that we should live life to the fullest.
I used to believe that we really should, because it’s the only way to be truly happy.
Not until I discovered a more meaningful way to walk and run and crawl the long or short course of this life that had been given to us.

Clearly, Mr. Hemingway didn’t say that to live life to the fullest, is to do what we want to do with our lives, even if it means tearing it apart.

I noticed, that some people, even in the olden days, had been preposterous to think that they should live life the way they want it even if it means hurting other people, or making the people around them suffer. As long as they get satisfaction from it, go on ahead, do it. Just as long as it will give them happiness, it doesn’t matter whoever or whatever gets thrashed.

On the contrary, I think that “to the fullest” means to live life meaningfully, in a more noble way.

-to give back, when you receive blessings, and even if you don’t – just to unconditionally GIVE.
-to love people and accept them however cruel some can get.
-to forgive those who have hurt us no matter how deep the inflicted wound had been.
-to be sensitive of others people’s feelings, and be considerate of their needs.
-to persistently teach what’s hard to learn.
-to never lose hope on some people who already lost hope.
-to break bad habits for the sake of your soul.
-to sacrifice some of your happiness because it will make another person’s life easier.
-to be more accepting and caring, and not dwelling in your hatred or bitterness or jealousy or greed.
-to remember to appreciate good things done to you, and thank God for them.
-to pray for the people who hates you and wants to pull you down, that may God bless them no matter how bad they are to you.

Yet, it is hard to give your other cheek, isn’t it?

But i think this is living life to the fullest.

I do not mean to preach, but, I see myself yearning for others to understand that to live life to the fullest doesn’t mean to live however way you want to, for your convenience, for your comfort, for your well-being alone, so that you can become successful, famous, popular and all that. because, what we “want” can sometimes give us the most painful suffering, or the most painful outcome.

As is written in Ecclesiastes 12:13 — “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man”, after learning what the commandments (doctrines of Christ) are, and loving His words, I knew that this is the ONLY way to live life to the fullest.

Once you’ve learnt what God wants us to do with our lives, I’m sure you will understand why I said this is living life to the fullest. His words are powerful but nevertheless, loving and unselfish. I think that we, His children, must live this way. By fearing God, and keeping His commandments. After all, our life is His.

I don’t believe that life on Earth sprouted like soybean, or that people came from apes, or that there was a big confusion with matters that it accidentally broiled life.

The way my body works, the way my face breaks when I’m about to cry and how everything in nature seem to be in harmony with each other, I have always believed that Someone powerful must be the reason behind all these, things that we see and don’t see. And this Someone breathed life in all of us so that we may serve Him and enjoy the fruits of an eternal life come the moment of truth.

Serving Him, is part of living life to the fullest.

I do not own my life. so I am careful not to live it as if I can get it back anytime, once gone.

If you’re wondering why I wrote this, I believe it is part of my duty to encourage people to listen to God’s words, so that life on this Earth will be more meaningful and fulfilling to live.
And once His words are etched in your being, there’s this warmth inside you that makes you want to say “THANK YOU, GOD!” every single second of your life.
